About the Dachshund
Variety is the spice of life, and Dachshunds (Doxies to their friends) are about as spicy as it gets in the world of AKC dog breeds. They’re one breed with three coat types (smooth, long and wire) and two sizes (standard and miniature). The coat types may have slightly different personalities, but they’re all adventurous, bold, stubborn, affectionate and spicy!
DACHSHUND’s BEDTIME PRAYER
Now I lay me down to sleep,
The king-sized bed is soft and deep.
I sleep right in the center groove,
My human beings can hardly move.
I’ve trapped their legs, they’re tucked in tight,
And here is where I spend the night.
No one disturbs me, or dares intrude,
Till morning comes and “I Want Food”.
I sneak up slowly to begin,
And nibble on my human’s chin.
For mornings here, it’s time to play,
I always seem to get my way.
So, thank you Lord for giving me,
This human person that I see.
The one who hugs me and holds me tight,
And share their bed with me at night.

Our tummies are hurting with sorrow,
We may need some hankies to borrow.
But if things seem bad
the good thing we have,
Is the never-ending hope of tomorrow.
